Last evening we attended the local Dining with the Dearly Departed picnic in the Old Cadiz cemetery beneath huge oak trees enjoying the cool, fall Kentucky weather.
"Each year the group selects about six or eight historic individuals in Trigg County to present in a reenactment at a picnic. Kim Fortner, who researches for the group says, “We spend a year researching and writing the script.” She says that this year’s lineup promises to be one of the best. They will include Jane Miller, who was a slave owner and freed her slaves; Judge John R. Grace, a popular politician, who died in Frankfort; Josiah Miller and his daughter Virginia who met a very tragic fate, and Ben Dyer Terry, who was a Confederate Veteran. All of the subjects this year have been dead for over a hundred years."
I altered an old copy of Silas Marner, "his neighbors never mentioned his absence".
